About public and protected Tweets

What is the difference between public and protected Tweets?

  • When you sign up for Twitter, your Tweets are public by default; anyone can view and interact with your Tweets. Should you choose to protect your Tweets, you can do so through your account settings.
  • If you protect your Tweets, you'll receive a request when new people want to follow you, which you can approve or deny. Accounts that began following you before you protected your Tweets will still be able to view and interact with your protected Tweets unless you block them. Learn more about blocking here.

Who can see my Tweets?

  • Public Tweets (the default setting) are visible to anyone, whether or not they have a Twitter account.
  • Protected Tweets may only be visible to your Twitter followers.
Note: If you have authorized a third-party application to access your account, that third-party application may be able to see your protected Tweets. Keep in mind that when you choose to share content on Twitter with others, this content may be downloaded or re-shared.

When you protect your Tweets:

  • You'll receive a request when new people want to follow you, which you can approve or deny. Learn more.
  • Your Tweets, including permanent links to your Tweets, will only be visible to your followers.
  • Your followers will not be able to use the Retweet button to Retweet or quote your Tweets. Learn more.
  • Protected Tweets will not appear in third-party search engines (like Google search or Bing).
  • Your protected Tweets will only be searchable on Twitter by you and your followers.
  • Replies you send to an account that isn't following you will not be seen by that account (because only your followers will see your Tweets).
Note: When you share a link in a protected Tweet, it is automatically processed and shortened to an http://t.co link. You can learn more about link shortening here. Please note that anyone with a t.co shortened link will be able to navigate to the destination URL.

What happens when I change my Tweets from public to protected?

If you at one time had public Tweets (before protecting your Tweets), those Tweets will no longer be public on Twitter, or appear in public Twitter search results. Instead, your Tweets will only be viewable and searchable on Twitter by you and your followers.

What happens when I change my Tweets from protected to public?

Unprotecting your Tweets will cause any previously protected Tweets to be made public.

What happens when I share media in a protected Tweet?

If your Tweets are protected, only your followers will be able to see your media in your Tweets. Please note that your followers may download or re-share links to media that you share in protected Tweets. Links to media shared on Twitter are not protected. Anyone with the link will be able to view the content.

Harassment On Twitter: Trolled and Suspended by the Alt Reich

I've received constant harassment on Twitter being trolled by The Alt Right and White Supremacists since 9/11.

It started with Alt Right radicals saying "Jews did 9/11" Then a man posted my photo online about 30 times and circulated it online among neo Nazis simply tagging it "Jew."

Countless people told me that I am not white (news to me) and that America is for Whites only.

I tried to explain that Judaism is a religion NOT a race. I was told they were going to deport me or kill me.

In my entire life, I never knew this kind of hatred towards Jews existed in America.

The Trump campaign seems to have awakened something in the people. Closet racists and bigots started posting swastikas and now that Trump has been elected this behavior has been legitimized by the Establishment.

I didn't believe he could win so I thought they would disappear back under the rock they crawled out of.

Now I'm afraid they may become even more radical and their words may escalate and grow more violent.

This is America. I expect Freedom OF Religion and Freedom FROM Religion.

The Alt Right are White Supremacists

[redacted]  the problem I'm seeing is that the Alt Right has affiliated themselves with Trump and White Supremacists are claiming that "Trump will take care of the Jews" and the KKK is marching in his honor.  Trump supporters and President-Elect, Trump himself needs to come forward and denounce these groups before they destroy his legacy before his term even begins.

Cleaning out my closet: Alt Reich need not apply

I've defriended two individuals for their thoughtless words dismissing my story calling it lies or "liberal whining" and blocked one for creepy stalker type behavior after multiple friends reported James Johnson was abusive and offensive towards myself and others.

If you think for one minute I'm making this up or exaggerating the rise in anti-semitism and racism on social media throughout this election cycle, perhaps you'll see that I'm not the only one reporting this phenomena. If that was the case, there would be no need for Twitter to take action since I first posted here a few days ago.

Banned on Facebook 11/18/16

Hello, friends. I was unable to post or reply to threads since I last posted because apparently the nature, raw language, graphic images and screen shots I posted were too graphic for this social media platform.

This does not surprise me, and serves only to confirm what I initially suspected, that my friends here are not prepared to see the harsh reality I face on daily basis.

In my absence, my dear friend, Roanna Carleton-Taylor posted several links to explain my absence and Twitter has since instituted a new policy to combat the pervasive hate speech targeting Jews, Blacks, Latinos, Muslims, LGBTQ, and other protected classes. They have taken down the accounts inciting violence threatening Jews like myself and the person who used my photograph replacing my eyes with bullet holes has been arrested and is now in Jail. I consider that a win and the temporary ban is a small price to pay.

Stay safe out there and have a good day.
