Original post:

LastPass admits it's been hacked again

Password manager LastPass has admitted that its servers have been hacked for the second time in four years. However, the company insists there is no evidence that the hackers have made off with users' passwords.

In a blog post on the company's website, the LastPass CEO says the thieves managed to gain access to account email addresses, password reminders and authentication hashes. Those hashses could potentially be used to work out customers' master passwords, consequently unlocking all the passwords in users' vaults. However, because LastPass uses a particularly strong hashing routine, it's highly unlikely that the thieves will be able to crack many passwords using a brute-force attack, where the hackers attempt every conceivable password combination.

Nevertheless, the company is still taking precautions to protect customers. Anybody signing in from a new device or IP address will have to click a verification link sent by email to confirm they are the genuine account holder, unless they already use two-factor authentication. The company will also be prompting all users to change their master password.

The master passwords that are most susceptible to a brute force attack are weak, dictionary-based entries (such as expert1, password6 or 3456789) or passwords that have been reused on other sites. LastPass is urging customers with such passwords to act quickly, although the CEO says "we are confident that you are safe on your LastPass account regardless".

Security experts agree that LastPass customers need not be too concerned. "As always, don't panic,"  writes independent security expert, Graham Cluley on his blog. "The sky is not falling. Take sensible steps to better secure your account - LastPass's advice is good."

The big danger is that list of stolen email addresses will be used to perpetrate phishing attacks, in which LastPass customers are hoodwinked into handing over their master password. "Amongst the stolen information appears to have been a database of account email addresses - an opportunity for phishers and identity thieves to commit email-based attacks posing as the password management company," says Cluley. Those phishing emails could be even more effective if the attackers can convince users they are genuine by showing them their password reminder.

LastPass was the victim of a similar attack in 2011, after which it again forced users to change their master passwords and required extra validation when attemtping to access LastPass accounts from new IP addresses. There were no reports of widespread password theft among LastPass customers after that incident.

D0xxed: Jaded, Shaded, Traded and Hated.

Jaded of the infamous LulzSec circus freak show has taken Admin privileges on my most popular pages and Wordpress sites.

He simply declared himself Admin on G Suite and claimed my various sites and bragged about it on MY blog that he got admin on MY site. He has changed several of the passwords and tells me he has full access to my email.

I have NO idea how or when he took over my account (I never had a functioning G Suite account) but there is evidence to suggest he first gained access since June 2011. That was the same time Abhaxas hacked into the Columbia mainframe and posted the full contents of the Columbia University directory with any and all pages associated with my account.

This whole thing seems very shady to me and you would think google and Wordpress would require verification to prove you are indeed the proper site owner.

At this point I feel I have a good case of fraud and impersonation not to mention stalking and harassment.

This has been going on since the Fifty Days of Terror in June and July of 2011 where they hacked Sony, the Serious Organized Crime Agency and everyone in between.

Their gripe with me is over my outspoken reluctance to sanction hacking companies such as MasterCard and PayPal as a valid form of activism since it is harmful to consumers like myself who writes for Yahoo and Amazon. Since I get paid in small increments for publications online that depends upon the number of site visits to my various sites across the web.

They have actively put in measures to redirect traffic from MY site to other sites that LOOK at similar but contain malicious code using scripts embedded in my files.

This is NOT ok.

It goes without saying that traffic has gone down since it is being redirected to other sites without the consent or the knowledge of the reader. I think goes without saying that my PayPal account was hacked as well. Along with Yahoo, Wordpress, Blogger, Picasa, Flickr and so on and so forth.

It seems odd to me that they have suddenly appeared and spend a solid five hours creating fake profiles on one of my many sites.

He's got admin privs and one brief moment it appeared as tho he gave me Admin privs but if that was the case, I would have booted his ass out at 7:07am.

I have NO idea how that happened. Also took over my google sites as Admin and it seems very shady to me that google doesn't make you prove you are the site owner.

Please take this seriously. They are supporters of Wikileaks thus they took PayPal so people could not support their "hacktivist" behavior which resembles terrorism a lot more than activism.

Even ISIS gives them a shoutout for being effective in recruiting young people online.

They set their sites on Columbia once in 2011 and punished people like Chelsea Manning and Sabu because of their support for Julian Assange and Wikileaks.

I was at Columbia in 2011 when the University went in DDoS. It happened while was meeting with George Schuessler regarding the security issues that became increasingly worse as their demands weren't met.

Several of them were sent to jail and others became pop culture and I heard that a few went legit.

I also feel that had Columbia acted with public safety in 2011 they could have a prevented a massive and life altering chain of events that has brought me here.

There are quite a few individuals who have been targeted by AntiSec and LulzSec.

You seldom hear from me about this because it isn't something I like to discuss since it had a huge financial, professional and emotional impact on my life. And all because they didn't like ONE post I responded to on InfoSec Island?

It took me years and a lot of research and medication to come to terms with the fùck that perfect strangers on the internet have invested countless hours, effort and money to destro the life of a 33 year old over one blog post. I seldom admit it; except to my closest of friends because  I don't want to be viewed as emotionally damaged and tell others where it hurts. So now you've found my Achilles heel. Try not to let all the hype and fake socially engineered accounts bearing my name change the way you feel about me or my writing  it's as if five minutes of my life cancelled out the last twenty years of intense research, writing, and advocacy. And that's too bad.

People tend to have a strong response to me and my writing. They generally don't feel indifferent. They either love me, hate me, or love to hate me but the one thing they can't do is forget me.

You want me off the web? Stop making me relevant and I'll disappear forever. But I can promise you one thing, you'll miss me when I'm gone
