The economist’s world might not be as colorful or as melodic as the others’ worlds, but it’s more practical..
If you want to understand what’s going on in the world that’s really out there, you need to know economics..„

Hey Jude, I’ve been around for a long time. Worked as a cryptographer at NATO Headquarters in Paris for 3 years during the Cold War and came away at the early age of 22 with the ability to look at any problem figure it out and then put the pieces back together. I did exactly that on Wall Street for 35 years. Designing and implementing systems. In 1987 I was asked to look at the new computerized trading system and said: “NO” it had too many loop holes and needed to be strengthened. System was making big money so nothing got done. Later that year i realized that the system could experience a sell off and invested in puts on the S&P500. The market crashed and well let’s just say, I have the confirmations to prove it.
That being said. Here we go again except this time, it’s out of control. Thank you very much for publishing my article “Bursting the Bubble” and, if there’s anyway I can help let me know. Again, great site and … Thank You

Recover a Hacked Microsoft Account | Microsoft Security
How to recover your hacked Microsoft account
How to recover your hacked Microsoft account
If you think your Microsoft account has been hacked, we recommend that you reset your password right away. To change your Outlook.com or Hotmail password, sign in to your Microsoft account, and then go to the Password and Security section for Outlook.com or the Account overview page in the Account security section for Hotmail.
Add security information to your account
You can also recover your account by associating it with information that cybercriminals can’t easily access, like your mobile phone number or an alternate email address. For example, if you lose your password or your account is compromised, Microsoft sends you an account-recapture code in a text message to help you regain access to your account. Add security information to your account.
You can also set up a "trusted PC" to recapture a hijacked account. You can associate your account with one or more of your personal computers. That way, if you ever need to regain control of your account by resetting your password, use one of your trusted computers and Outlook.com or Hotmail will know you are the legitimate owner.
Watch out for scams
If you receive an email message about the security of your account, it could be a phishing scam. Don’t click links in any messages unless you trust or check with the sender. Instead, reset your password.
Use antivirus software
Scammers can get into your email account by installing malicious software onto your computer without your knowledge. Make sure you use antivirus software that updates automatically like Microsoft Security Essentials if your computer runs Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP. If you’re using Windows 8, you already have antivirus and antispyware protection called Windows Defender—which means you don’t need to download Microsoft Security Essentials or other antivirus programs. Windows Defender 8 runs in the background and notifies you when you need to take specific action.
GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!

What's Really Behind China's Attacks On Apple And Android? – ReadWrite
![]()
American technology is winning the smartphone wars. Apple's iPhone captures the lion's share of the industry's profits and Google's Android operating system easily dominates smartphone market share. Is this a cause for concern in China - which has grown accustomed to dominating tech manufacturing?
Clearly, something is bothering the Chinese establishment.
Two weeks ago, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) sounded an alarm about Android's dominance:
While the Android system is open source, the core technology and technology roadmap is strictly controlled by Google.
According to the Ministry's statement, China's “mobile operating system research and development is too dependent on Android.” While Android is the world's dominant smartphone platform, with an estimated 70% market share, Android commands an estimated 90% of the Chinese smartphone market.
This is a big deal. There are more than one billion smartphones in use around the world - and billions more are expected to be activated over the next several years. China is the world's largest smartphone market, but nearly every new smartphone made is based on technology developed and controlled by North American companies.
The top smartphone operating systems in the world are American, with Google's Android and Apple's iPhone leading by a wide margin. Android commands 48% of the market and iPhone has 19%. Blackberry owns 8% of the market and Microsoft's Windows Phone has 2%. (Legacy devices running on the outmoded Symbian OS still control 15% of the current market.) Just as important, services, applications, businesses and innovation gravitate to the winning platforms.
(See also America's Mobile Comeback.)
Android And iPhone Rising
Earlier this month, I suggested that a de facto threat to Android could certainly benefit China's 'homegrown' platforms, such as Alibaba's Aliyun operating system, for example. I also said that such a move might benefit Apple's iPhone and other competing platforms. But that may no longer be a valid assumption.
Late last week, China's official media, China Central Television (CCTV), went after Apple. According to The Wall Street Journal:
China Central Television accused Apple of skirting warranty periods and adopting customer-service policies for Chinese customers that differ from its practices in other countries.
During the two-hour broadcast, watched by millions, the network accused Apple of not fully meeting product warranty requirements and of engaging in customer-service practices that differ from Apple's standard practices in other countries. For example, Chinese customers, the broadcast said, are more likely to receive a refurbished product instead of a new device when their original fails.
"This is too unfair to Chinese consumers," one customer said in the report.
While the iPhone has only a small share of the Chinese smartphone market, Apple has been moving aggressively into the country. In the last fiscal quarter alone, Apple generated $6.83 billion in revenues from the Chinese market (including Hong Kong and Taiwan). China is currently Apple's second largest market by revenue, though CEO Tim Cook has predicted that China will become Apple’s number one market soon.
Cook was in China earlier this year, where he met with several government officials and the chairman of China Mobile, the country's largest mobile carrier.
Any actions undertaken by the Chinese government that limit or otherwise diminish the prospects of Apple's iPhone and Google's Android platform would likely be felt immediately. As The Wall Street Journal stated in its CCTV report:
China's consumers flooded social-media sites after the CCTV report. Zheng Yuanjie, a famous Beijing-based children's author, wrote on the Sina Weibo microblogging service, "By paying the same or even a higher price for Apple products, Chinese consumers have received even lower standards of after-sales service than those in developed countries. I hope the part Apple is missing [in its products] is not its conscience." The comment received nearly 8,000 comments and was forwarded nearly 10,000 times by late Friday night.
Smoke But No Fire
Not everyone is convinced. Steven Millward, who covers the mobile market in Asia out of Shanghai, said the moves by China's state-run broadcaster and Ministry may not be coordinated:
Coming just two weeks after China's MIIT warned of the country being too dependent on Google-controlled Android, the CCTV attack on Apple might seem to be a co-ordinated attack on the two leading smartphone platforms in the country, iOS and Android, but i'm not convinced.
There could be other factors for CCTV's attack on Apple: it was, after all, World Consumer Rights Day, and major foreign companies are often (though not exclusively) the ones at whom the brickbats are thrown.
Apple, Millward notes, is also a "prestigious target" for a television broadcaster to go after. Indeed, as The Wall Street Journal reported, the CCTV report was "hyperbolic" if not necessarily effective.
Similarly, while there may be some legitimate cause for concern over Android's near-monopoly in the China smartphone market, Millward notes that "Chinese authorities must realize that their leading Web companies - from Baidu to Tencent, Sina to startups - badly need iOS and Android as the basis of their entire mobile strategy."
China's Sputnik Moment?
Even if the broadsides launched against Apple and Google are indeed coincidental, they could still be signs of China's own 'Sputnik moment' over American domination of smartphone technology,
For non-history-buffs, back in 1957 the Soviet Union launched Sputnik, the world's first successful artificial satellite. Reaction in the United States was dramatic, with warnings that American technological leadership was being squandered and hysterical fears of a deadly "missile gap." The Sputnik issue became a central to the 1960 U.S. presidential election. Soon after his election, John F. Kennedy Jr. committed the United States to sending a man to the moon.
It's probably hyperbole to claim that the rise of Android and iPhone will inspire new efforts by the Chinese in the smartphone sphere. But it's equally clear that China has noticed that there's a key technology category where it doesn't lead the way. And no one should be surprised if they decide to do something about it in a big way.
Nobody's Talking
Apple did not respond to requests for comment, nor did the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Google responded with the following statement:
Android is an open source mobile platform freely available to everyone. It is available in its entirety at http://source.android.com, allowing device manufacturers to customize and offer new user experiences, driving innovation and consumer choice.

Who is ELyssaD™?
Who is ELyssaD™?
I started this private site after my name, ID, medical and financial info was stolen, made public in Pastebin, and sold on T-shirts at the DefCon hackers conference.I never got one penny for the T-shirts and apparel sold and was never reimbursed for the damage done to my computer equipment and mobile devices as a result of HARD CORE hackers.
I was promised the T-shirts and promo ads would be pulled from the event and the black hat hackers known as Lulz, AntiSec, (Sabu and Co.) would take them down and refrain from using my likeness for promotional purposes.
They were not. They used my name, my likeness, my photos, my social security number, my ID, my address and more to create a slew of fake social media accounts to post insane bullshit across a variety of platforms.
They even socially engineered my closest friends and family members in various forums to reinforce the charade.
They claimed the T-shirts were for charity and that $1.00 would be donated for every ELyssaD garment sold.
Not only did I not receive any such monies, I am quite certain these fuckwits have no idea how serious it is to impersonate a 501(c)3.
So not only did they make a profit from exploiting every aspect of my life, they harassed my friends, impersonated an ex-cop who has been one of most trusted allies and confidant; threatened friends who dare to speak up on my behalf by calling them on the phone and identifying themselves as law enforcement. ANOTHER felony.
They made a profit. They offered a reward for tittie pics, had podcasts, comic books and sold a line of women's apparel to promote their podcasts, show and of course, make money.
They created multiple fake identities on various social media platforms. They pwned my website, social media accounts, linked in, private forums, etc... harassed my friends and posted my fathers home address on the internet.
They altered personal documents they stole from my private files, altered them, and had the nerve to put the FAKE documents back in to my web albums and made them public.
ONE LOGIN = ONE FELONY
Destruction of evidence (especially records that pertain to employee benefits is a whole other class of crimes)
These individuals are clearly guilty, and have no problem advertising their skills across the hacker community.
They destroyed my professional credibility with disinformation writing posting ridiculous website entries that present my professional certifications as a practicing therapist to make them appear as if I was the patient not the provider.
65 "people" impersonating me on social media platforms?
My friends, sister, brothers, my mother, and even "Agent Daddy" became targets as well.
I started this site hoping for a do-over. My name is ELyssa. ELyssaD™ and, for he record I've never done midget porn!
Just me,

EXCLUSIVE: FBI Raids Homes of Suspected 'Anonymous' Hackers
July 19, 2011: FBI agents execute a search warrant at the Long Island, NY, home of a suspected member of notorious hacking group Anonymous. (Fox News)
The FBI executed search warrants at the New York homes of three suspected members of notorious hacking group Anonymous early Tuesday morning, FoxNews.com has learned.
More than 10 FBI agents arrived at the Baldwin, N.Y., home of Giordani Jordan at 6:00 a.m. EST with a search warrant for computers and computer-related accessories, removing at least one laptop from the premises.
The agents spent an hour and 40 minutes at Jordan's house; other agents investigated a second Long Island, N.Y., home and one in Brooklyn, N.Y., sources told FoxNews.com.
Jordan's system was identified as allegedly being used in a coordinated distributed denial of service attack against several companies, a law enforcement official told FoxNews.com.
The targets of the FBI searches are all in their late teens to early 20s.
Tuesday's search warrants were part of an ongoing investigation into Anonymous, which claimed responsibility for attacks against a variety of websites including Visa and Mastercard. Anonymous is a loose collection of cybersavvy activists inspired by WikiLeaks and its flamboyant head Julian Assange to fight for "Internet freedom" -- along the way defacing websites, shutting down servers, and scrawling messages across screens web-wide.
A tweet purportedly from the hacker group
sent out around 2 a.m. Tuesday morning -- following the Monday defacement of the website for British newspaper The Sun -- trumpeted "We had an awesome day, loud hail to all #AntiSec vessels: We are winning."
Another Twitter feed
purportedly connected to the Anonymous group issued a defiant message Tuesday morning in response to the FBI's action: "It doesn't matter how many people the 'FBI' arrest. Whether they are core members or not. #anonymous have started something unstoppable."
The Anonymous vigilante group turned its efforts to the Arizona police department in late June, posting personal information of law officers and hacking and defacing websites in response, the group claims, to the state's controversial SB1070 immigration law.
While Anonymous is largely a politically motivated organization, splinter group LulzSec -- which dominated headlines in the spring for a similar streak of cyberattacks -- was largely in it for the thrills.
The metropolitan police in London arrested the first alleged member of the LulzSec group on June 20, a 19-year-old teen named Ryan Cleary. Subsequent sweeps through Italy and Switzerland in early July led to the arrests of 15 more people -- all between the ages of 15 and 28 years old.
The two groups are responsible for a broad spate of digital break-ins targeting governments and large corporations, including Japanese technology giant Sony, the U.S. Senate, telecommunications giant AT&T, Fox.com, and other government and private entities.

Screed of Momus: Is Neal Rauhauser an Informant?
Is Neal Rauhauser an Informant?
Neal Rauhauser, the Iowa native who came to prominence with his involvement in various online trolling efforts like the Beandog Milita, Twittergate, and Vile Tweets, has interesting associations. Other sites, such as the Crying Wolfe Blog and Ron Brynaert's site, have publicized these associations in the past. However, the media still has yet to take note.
Neal Rauhauser As part of my continuing series on Neal Rauhauser and his involvement with various online hijinks, pranks, and slander campaigns, I've gone back into Neal's life as a Graettinger, IA native and former resident of Omaha, NE. I've dug up two past marriages, and contacted various people in Neal's past for phone interviews. And then there are the people whose lives have been affected by Neal over the past two years, people like blogger Mike Stack of New Jersey, who figured prominently in the revelation of Anthony Weiner's online tweets to porn stars and college aged coeds, including an infamous picture of his erection.
The story broke nationally through Andrew Breitbart, but Mike and his friend Dan Wolfe otherwise known as PatriotUSA76 broke the story with tweets. There is some dispute about how about they agreed to tweet, with Mike Stack saying that he was sent an email by PatriotUSA76 that clued him into a brewing sex scandal involving Congressman Weiner. Mike Stack alleges that Dan Wolfe contacted him about Weiner after Stack left a comment about his Twitter avatar. Wolfe pressed Stack to tweet the initial message related to Weiner's then rumored sex scandal, and said that he would re-tweet. Stack did so.
What happened afterwards was simple enough: Mike Stack took the blame, and Dan Wolfe maintained his anonymity and disappeared. And what a heavy blame it was: today, photos of Mike along with his arrest report from 2004 have been posted online, and he's been alleged to have framed Anthony Weiner by hacking his account. Mike vehemently denies doing so. However, his denials didn't register with the left wing tweeters who bombarded him with threatening tweets and emails. They outed his address, photos of his home, and his work as a porn site moderator. Additionally, the 2004 case against Mike Stack was dropped.
But that's all been covered by other sites, and what's interesting to me is how Mike Stack managed to haul Neal into court by serving process on an attorney by the name of Mark Rasch. Mark Rasch, for those of you who do not know, was the general counsel for the online vigilante effort that called itself Project Vigilant. Project Vigilant was a loose conglomeration of hackers and infosec specialists that made waves when its founder, one Chet Uber, marched into Defcon to announce its existence and boast about the role Project Vigilant had in getting Pfc. Bradley Manning arrested.
Moreover, Mark Rasch is an attorney whose Washington, D.C. location just so happens to be in the same building with Baker & Hostetler, LLP, which happens to the same firm retained by Representative Weiner to investigate his possible hacked Twitter account. Representative Weiner later admitted to his guilt, of course, but this did not stop some on the left from continuing to posit that he was set up. It's hard to see how one can set a man up and make him tweet a photo of his erection to a woman on the other side of the country, but there are those who insist on believing in a grand conspiracy in the Weiner scandal that involved nefarious right wing bloggers.
Rasch is also the former Department of Justice attorney who investigated Wired magazine's Senior Editor Kevin Poulsen for crime including mail and wire fraud, money laundering, and obstruction of justice. Facing seven counts, Poulsen received a mere 51 months in prison. And when he emerged from prison, where did he wind up shortly afterwards? Security Focus, a publication that focused on security issues related to the Internet, a publication that just so happened to employ Mark Rasch. What's stranger still is that Kevin Poulsen is now the Senior Editor at Wired, where he works with, you guessed it, Mark Rasch.
Poulsen & Lamo And what of Chet Uber, the Omaha resident who relocated to Florida and began accepting disability checks related to his diabetes and heart problems? He founded Project Vigilant, a consortium of hackers and infosec experts that monitored 12 regional ISPs and turned over their findings to various government agencies. Interestingly enough, while Project Vigilant's members insist they did not violate the law, one wonders why there is a need for Project Vigilant when the NSA has the capacity to monitor every bit of electronic communication throughout the world.
What's more, how does a man like Chet Uber get the money to found an organization like Project Vigilant, and how does he afford airfare to Defcon on disability checks that by his own account provide him less than $800 a month in income? Here is Neal's explanation, from his post as Stranded Wind on Firedog Lake:
"I get periodic requests for help with network infrastructure problems, I had one come during the summer of 2009 that needed some special skills, and Chet answered some questions for me. It was a day’s work – $1,000 billed, and I had my customer make the check to BBHC Global so the company could afford to incorporate.
So that’s all there really is to it – a bunch of civic minded professionals who see each other at conferences, one of them on disability but wanting to volunteer so he could do something useful with his time, and one old friend repaying a debt to another by writing off a day’s consulting pay in hopes some good would come of it."
According to Neal, he paid the incorporation costs for the company that financed Project Vigilant's emergence in the summer of 2009 by having his customer make out a $1000 check to BBHC Global. Neal subsequently deleted his explanation of BBHC Global's genesis, but his fellow Firedoglake member shekissesfrogs had it saved in her cache and reposted it. What's more interesting is how Neal had the time and energy to work a day and make $1000, but he didn't use that money to pay off his child support obligations. At over $30,000 in the present day, Neal hasn't paid child support in a while. At $675 a month, it's easy to compute his financial obligations to his children as stretching back to 2009.
Chet Uber His insistence that he didn't have the money because he could work is belied by his own version of events as to the rise of Project Vigilance and BBHC Global. He paid the incorporation costs of BBHC Global with his work on a company's network infrastructure! But it goes much further, as the following quote from Neal's Firedoglake post explaining how Project Vigilant came to be funded indicates:
"I hadn’t heard from Chet in quite a while. He’d had a massive heart attack in 2005, I got Lyme in 2007, and both of us were in pretty sad shape. I’d gone back to work at the beginning of the year and for a while my credit card was attached to his Walgreens account, covering meds he otherwise would not have been able to afford.
We started talking again, every week or so. A couple of times I logged in and paid his cell bill. He’d managed to hang on to a laptop through heart attack, losing a long term relationship, losing a business, and bouncing between friends and relatives. He finally qualified for disability and things started to get easier."
Neal had money to help pay for Chet's medications and even his cell phone bill, but he didn't pay the child support he owes for his children. Despite insisting repeatedly to his ex-wife Nancy that he didn't have the money because of his Lyme Disease, by Neal's own account on Firedoglake he was working in the summer of 2009 and making enough money to pay for Chet Uber's medications and his cell phone bill!Project Vigilant is a largely extraneous and even redundant group, given what we know about the NSA's capabilities, but the NSA, like other federal agencies, is occasionally constrained by obstacles like the law and procedural requirements. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is where Project Vigilant becomes useful. You have people like Neal Rauhauser, a man who allegedly hacked the computer of his ex-wife to be vindictive, working to penetrate 12 regional ISPs and monitor the information and behavior of their customers for the purposes of turning over that information to various federal agencies. Neal has faced charges of criminal harassment from Mike Stack, the aforementioned New Jersey blogger who accused Neal of online harassment.
You have Neal's associates, like the various members of the Beandogs, represented by Neal to me in our communications last year as hackers. We know that one of those Beandogs, Sam Birbeck aka Methadonna, went on to infamy for his role in accusing HOPE: Preventing Euthanasia & Assisted Suicide director Paul Russell of retaining him for the purposes of rigging an online poll. Birbeck sent emails saying that he would triple the agreed upon fee for his services. Trouble was, Paul Russell never retained Sam Birbeck for any job at all.
But the supporters of the euthanasia bill in South Australia seized on the emails as proof of Russell's gaming of the polls that showed citizens overwhelmingly opposing the euthanasia bill. One of the bill's supporters, a transexual gynecologist named Dr. Rosemary Jones, forwarded an email from another euthanasia advocate named Mark Lawrence which stated the following:
Sam Birbeck/Methadonna "Friends, from what I hear, they (the Canadian based colation [sic], with teh [sic] NCC SA as its Ausralian [sic] base) are paying small amounts of PayPal money to US gamers to rig these polls all over the world, 24/7- how very principled. That's how they got a 75/25 result on Adelaide Now on Tuesday, and, given that it is so obvious, why Adelaide Now at one point on Tuesday evening actually reduced the number of aggregate votes recorded. Good old NCC. Mark."
Isn't that a nice accusation, and isn't it consistent with the loser's limp and whining of Neal Rauhauser and other supporters of disgraced Representative Anthony Weiner? Neal and his allies insist that Weiner was hacked, and that he didn't tweet the photo of his genitalia, even though Anthony Weiner accepted full responsibility for all of the tweets during his final his press conference.
And what we know of Brett Warren, aka @solaar of Maitland, FL, is that he too was linked to a robocalling operation in Canada in which he posed as Conservative Party aide Michael Sona to confess to Sona's involvement in the robocalling effort which led Canadian voters to believe that their polling places had been moved! What are the odds that two known online associates of Neal Rauhauser would be involved in such tricks as they related to the political processes of two countries?
Just look at what Neal posted in his recollection of Project Vigilant's beginnings:
"We’d been into infosec stuff ever since we’d met, him (Chet Uber) much more than me, but this was the first time I heard the name Project Vigilant applied to his broad collection of associates. He began organizing with a will, herding infosec rock stars into formation, then pulling in those who wanted to learn. The names of those willing to be seen in public were detailed in the second Albertson column."
Did any of those who wanted to learn happen to be Beandogs or any of the other assorted trolls Neal was consorting with on Twitter during 2010 and early 2011? Did Project Vigilant serve not merely as a means to surreptitiously make an end-run around legal restrictions on government monitoring of ISPs, but also a means of training the Beandogs and other like-minded partisan individuals in the skill sets necessary to perform the dirty tricks directed at conservative bloggers and libertarian tweeters we've seen over the past two years?
Or was it something even more nefarious, such as a shell game to provide a convenient narrative to cover for how the government came to be aware of Pfc. Bradley Manning's leak of classified diplomatic cables to Wikileaks? What we know of Pfc. Manning's actions is simple enough: he isn't charged with leaking the cables online to Wikileaks. The government contends that he made a physical drop of disks to Wikileaks allies in the Boston area. Why, then, would he communicate with the likes of a convicted hacker like Adrian Lamo, who in turn notified none other than Project Vigilant founder Chet Uber, who then notified Washington, D.C. attorney Mark Rasch, the man whose criminal investigation of Kevin Poulsen led to his conviction on seven criminal counts for which Poulsen received a surprisingly light sentence.
When you consider that before Adrian Lamo was involuntarily committed to a psychiatric hospital three weeks before he supposedly began communicating with Pfc. Manning, you begin to understand that something isn't quite right. The government's chief witness against Bradley Manning is a man who has contradicted himself in numerous media interviews, and the main organization that helped bust Bradley Manning wasn't the NSA or any other U.S. intelligence agency, but was instead a group of infosec folks and hackers operating under the direction of a disabled man by the name of Chet Uber, who had to rely on Neal Rauhauser for his prescriptions, his cell phone bill, and the money to incorporate the company that served as the funding conduit for Project Vigilant.
And nowhere in BBHC Global's information is Neal Rauhauser listed as principal or even a member, even though he purportedly provided the startup money for BBHC Global. Instead, the owner of the BBHC Global domain name is one Steve Ruhe, who provides an interesting email: chet.uber@mac.com. Steve Ruhe is a drywall contractor named R&R Drywall in Lincoln, NE. Think of it: a drywall contractor who got into the information security business and registered BBHC Global's domain name under Chet Uber's mac.com account. It strains credulity, especially when you consider that the domain name wasn't registered until April 2009. The significance of this is tremendous, because we know from Wired Magazine's own reporting that Manning had been going through the classified information for months when he came across the infamous helicopter video in late 2009.
What if Project Vigilant and BBHC Global were merely shell organizations set up as part of a sophisticated operation to smoke out Bradley Manning? And what if Bradley Manning's relationship with Adrian Lamo stemmed not from his leaking operation, but from his sexual orientation? Adrian Lamo was a volunteer at PlanetOut during the mid-1990s. PlanetOut is a gay and lesbian media firm. And given that Neal Rauhauser, the self-professed "old hacker" alleges that he fronted BBHC Global the money to incorporate with the proceeds from one of his jobs in the summer of 2009, what was his role in accumulating intelligence on the Manning leaks, if he had any role at all? And now that he is actively soliciting Anonymous and Lulzsec members and stirring up people at Occupy Wall Street, is he doing so in his capacity as a progressive activist or is he merely an informant passing on the information he accrues on social networks and IRCs to the federal government? Surely the members of Occupy Wall Street and Anonymous would look at Neal's solicitous attitude quite differently if they were aware of his affiliation with Project Vigilance, its cooperation with the FBI and other various federal agencies, and the boast of its founder Chet Uber that his organization helped bust Bradley Manning.
What we know about Neal is that he is a self-professed Infragard member who has meetings with the FBI on occasion, and on May 30, 2011 Neal made the following claim on his blog:
"OK, kids, in addition to being a mouthy blogger I’m also an Infragard member and my day job gets me occasional meetings with the FBI. I just called the agent for my district who covers cybercrime and we need to get this muddle distilled down for him."
From what we know of the federal government and its history as it relates to movements like Occupy Wall Street, the anti-war movement during Vietnam, and the civil rights movement, planting people like Neal in those movements is not such a stretch. COINTELPRO, anyone? And given Neal's documented and notorious trolling of the Tea Party, and his repeated threats to refer various Tea Party supporters on Twitter to federal law enforcement, was his trolling an attempt at entrapment to provokeTea Party supporters on Twitter to engage in possibly illegal and threatening conduct with their reactions?
Considering that members of the Wrecking Crew like Jeannie McBride, who would later be outed as a registered Democrat, went on infamy for their cooperation with Neal Rauhauser, it would seem that Neal's operations were a good bit more than an effort to control the partisan narrative on social networks. After all, how does the FBI allow a man with documented psychiatric issues like Neal Rauhauser to work even peripherally for a quasi-governmental initiative like Project Vigilance? For that matter, given that their chief witness against Bradley Manning is Adrian Lamo, a man who was hospitalized for psychiatric issues three weeks before he came forward against Bradley Manning, things don't add up.
And considering that serving process for Neal in a criminal harassment case on Mark Rasch resulted in Neal showing up with Brett Kimberlin to Municipal Court, what is Velvet Revolution's role in Neal's possible activities as an infiltrator and informant? We know that Velvet Revolution's financials are sparse, with little detail on how they've spent their substantial donations. All we see of Velvet Revolution's expenditures are the various websites like Indict Breitbart and the alleged retaining of Neal Rauhauser to work on various tasks. Is Velvet Revolution paying Neal Rauhauser, and if so, what services does Neal provide? Are they appropriate for a registered non-profit with tax-exempt status?
And has the federal government paid Neal for services rendered in his capacities with Project Vigilant and Infragard, and if so, why hasn't Neal made an effort to address his financial obligations in Nebraska and Iowa? Again, given the prior history of the federal government and the animus it has displayed toward alternative political movements like the civil rights movement, the anti-war movement, the Tea Party, Occupy Wall Street, and hacking organizations like Anonymous, LulzSec, and Wikileaks, it makes perfect sense to set a man with Neal's psychological and character defects loose in Zuccotti Park and on Twitter, where he can entice and provoke individuals into incriminating behavior that would compromise and discredit them and the movements they affiliate with.
For all of the questions related to Neal's involvement with Project Vigilant, Infragard, and his interaction with the federal government and his association with a former Department of Justice attorney whose protege and client have central positions in the Manning leaks and prosecution, one thing is very clear: those who are a part of Occupy Wall Street, Anonymous, and LulzSec, along with anyone in the Tea Party, should be very careful about what they say or divulge to Neal Rauhauser.
Author's Note: The reporting of Ron Brynaert, Crying Wolf Blog, The Other McCain, Liberty Chick, and various other bloggers and websites deserves to be credited for the extensive documentation of Neal's back history over the past two years. Also, thanks to Brooks Bayne and his site The Trenches for their continuing dedication to this story. To all of you who have read this series, thanks to you. There is so much more to come in the days and weeks ahead. To Mike Stack, I owe you a debt of gratitude for the emails you sent. It was like God dropped confirmation in my lap as to one of my theories.

Moriah: The Illuminati Legacy
Written by Stevie Nicks.
You're not a stranger to me
And you are something to see
You don't even know how to please
You say a lot but you're unaware how to leave
My darling lives in a world that is not mine
An old child misunderstood out of time
Timeless is the creature who is wise
And timeless is the prisoner in disguise
Oh who is the beauty who the beast
Would you die of grieving when I leave
Two children too blind to see
I would fall in your shadow I believe
My love is a man who's not been tamed
Oh my love lives in a world of false pleasure and pain;
We come from difference worlds we are the same my love
I never doubted your beauty I've changed
I never doubted your beauty I've changed
Changed who is the beauty
Where is my beast (my love)
There is no beauty
Without my beast (my love)
Who is the beauty
Who my love
Where is my beast
My beauty my beauty
My beautiful beautiful beautiful
Beautiful beast

‘Deeply disturbed … narcissism … sociopathic’?
“Please think about your family. This story is not worth it. I can assure you that. . . .
“I am trying to help you, a lot of people are very disappointed that this story has continued.”
– “Alicia Pain,” June 23, 2011“Another possible outcome would be a two digit body count from some mosque in Virginia after Aaron goes full tilt Jared Loughner on the congregation. . . .
“I continue to be the sort of guy who can get a counter terror [special agent] in the D.C. area on the phone in short order.”
– Neal Rauhauser, Feb. 16, 2012“In a message posted in the comments of a blog in October 2011, Rauhauser explained that he and someone he describes as ‘a very big dog from the Anonymous pen’ conspired to use Brett Kimberlin’s non-profit Velvet Revolution as a vehicle to exact vengeance on (a) his personal enemies, (b) the security firm HB Gary and (c) ‘Breitbart associates.’”
– Robert Stacy McCain, June 15, 2012FROM AN UNDISCLOSED LOCATION
SWATting victim Mike Stack accused Brett Kimberlin’s associate Neal Rauhauser of criminal harassment. On May 24, the day he was due to appear at a New Jersey courthouse for a meeting intended to resolve that case, Rauhauser sent an e-mail to Stack that included this:Given that Doug [Stewart] was in court with us, as well as others who may not have spoke up, I think it’s very dangerous that we should appear together at a known time. You haven’t faced this stuff yet, but Gabbie [Giffords] took a bullet through the back of the head and Gabe Zimmerman died along with five others in Tucson. What McCain & Walker are doing is *way* more intense than the stuff that [led] up to that mass shooting. I am truly worried we could end up caught in the middle of a gunfight between deputies and some extremist group. It’s never been made public, but there were members of Michigan Militia periodically patrolling the Occupy Lansing camp because they got a hint I was there, and before that it was some League of the South guy in South Carolina who got interviewed by FBI hate crimes squad.
These insinuations are either (a) insane or (b) dishonest, or perhaps (c) both insane and dishonest. There is no other possible explanation for Rauhauser’s bizarre claim that Aaron Walker’s defense against Brett Kimberlin’s intimidation tactics — and my reporting on Walker’s plight — were likely to lead to a massacre comparable to Jared Loughner’s criminal rampage in Tucson.
Please note that I reported on Loughner’s crime both on my blog and at The American Spectator. In point of fact, “the stuff that [led] up to that mass shooting” was Loughner’s slow-motion descent into psychosis, a mental deterioration influenced by the atheist 9/11-Truther conspiracy cult “documentary,” Zeitgeist.
What other “stuff” does Neal Rauhauser mean to say caused Loughner’s murder spree? Sarah Palin’s “target” map? “Incivility”? Rauhauser doesn’t say, nor does he acknowledge that Loughner was a paranoid psychotic deluded by left-wing conspiracy theories.
“ I am truly worried we could end up caught in the middle of a gunfight between deputies and some extremist group”? What deranged nonsense is this? Who could possibly take Neal seriously?
Only a handful of people knew or cared about the Stack-Rauhauser case. There were some people working behind the scenes trying to get somebody — anybody — in New Jersey or New York media to cover that story, and nobody was interested, even though it involved Mike Stack, who played a key role in exposing the Anthony Weiner cybersex scandal.
Yet here was Rauhauser, the defendant in a criminal harassment case, sending a private e-mail to Stack — the plaintiff in that case — attempting to convince Stack that they were both in danger of dying in a violent attack by an armed gang of right-wing extremists.
The Michigan Militia! The League of the South! All these shadowy menaces, Rauhauser wanted Stack to believe, were such a looming threat to public safety in Somerset County, N.J., that it was dangerous for Stack and Rauhauser to “appear together at a known time.”
And why? Because of Aaron Walker and me!
Rauhauser then went on in his e-mail to Stack to cast a penumbra of suspicion around Patrick “Patterico” Frey who, like Stack, had been targeted for SWATting in the wake of WeinerGate:
If Frey or anyone around him can shift blame to you for anything that has happened they will try that.
The FBI agent in charge of counter-terror for NYC was interested after I told her a bit about what you had been close to, but after some consideration I think it is unwise for you to approach them on your own. I also think you might have some sort of claim against Frey, but it’s not as clear as what Nadia [Naffe] has.
I will write a note introducing you and Jay Leiderman. He is Nadia’s lawyer, he is not mine, so you would be talking to him as if he were going to be your counsel in a civil suit against Frey, and he will advise you on the particulars of talking with the feds after what you have seen. . . .
We’ll look what I have over — you, me, and qritiq, then we’ll share it with Allyn Lynd, the FBI agent who is most known for dealing with stuff like that. I think this is a separate issue from Frey and so forth – we can do this without either of us being exposed to any trouble. This is such a convoluted wad of misleading lunacy I scarcely know how to begin unraveling it. How is it, for example, that Rauhauser imagines Patrick Frey would want to “shift blame” to Stack?
Blame for what? What crime is Frey alleged to have committed for which he would, according to Rauhauser, want to falsely blame Stack?
How does this relate to Nadia Naffe, nemesis of James O’Keefe? What does Rauhauser claim Frey or O’Keefe (or their unknown accomplices) have done that would be of interest to “The FBI agent in charge of counter-terror for NYC” or “Allyn Lynd, the FBI agent who is most known for dealing with stuff like that”?
Stuff like what? What horrific criminal malfeasance does Rauhauser know of, that would require the intervention of these authorities?
Uh . . . SWATting by a member of a notorious computer hacking gang?
Why was Rauhauser name-checking FBI Agent Allyn Lynd in this private e-mail in May 2012 when, in October 2011, Rauhauser was boasting of his connection with “a very big dog in the Anonymous pen”? How is it that Neal was pushing this disjointed crazytalk at Mike Stack, barely six months after Rauhauser himself was proud to proclaim his association with hackers linked to an international criminal conspiracy?
Can you say, “consciousness of guilt,” boys and girls?
While I hate to put any more crazy ideas into Neal Rauhauser’s demented mind, I wonder if the FBI might soon be reading this blog post.
To put it a bit more plainly, I wonder if some of my sources — who tell me they’ve been talking to the FBI — would e-mail the agents a link to this post, so that the agents could ask the clever folks at the Behavioral Science Unit at Quantico to ponder a few hypotheticals.
Suppose there was a certain person (we’ll call him “UnSub”) who knew himself to be implicated in serious crimes. Suppose that UnSub displayed an obsessive interest in secrecy and deception. Furthermore, suppose that UnSub believed himself to be under investigation.
How would such a person behave? Is it possible — and I’m just throwing this out there, as a hypothetical possibility — that UnSub would attempt to deflect attention from himself by making accusations of wrongdoing against others? Would UnSub try to destroy or conceal potential evidence? Could we, perhaps, expect UnSub to taunt his victims or send veiled threats to potential witnesses against him?
Just kind of thinking out loud here, you understand. Purely a matter of abstract speculation, perhaps of interest to the BSU analysts at Quantico only as an exercise in psychological theory.
Maybe the BSU analysts could factor in some other variables. Say, for instance, if UnSub liked to brag about his connection to law enforcement officials, or exhibited the kind of sadistic personality that would brag about using martial arts to inflict pain on a woman.
Do you think FBI criminal profiling specialists would be interested to learn that UnSub had previously engaged in behavior “disturbing enough to result in a court-ordered psychiatric evaluation“?
What the psychiatrist found was a man who was deeply disturbed, possessed of the worst narcissism he’d ever seen. [UnSub] had reactive attachment disorder. He was sociopathic, and his behavior resulted in [UnSub] facing various difficulties socially and professionally.
Like I said, sort of an abstract hypothetical we’re talking about here, the type of case study that might interest FBI-BSU strictly as the subject for what you might call a “clinical exercise” or something.
Maybe it would come in handy to law enforcement officials who had spent an entire year trying to solve a mysterious crime. Also, I think it might be helpful to FBI agents who were ready to apprehend a deviant “sociopathic” criminal like that: How would UnSub react if he thought he were under surveillance and the feds were about to move in? Would this kind of psychological stress make him a potential threat to himself and others? Shouldn’t law enforcement agents be informed that UnSub had boasted about carrying a concealed handgun?
Glock 19, the 9x19mm compact frame, fits my hand like a glove. When I used to carry this I’d load half a dozen frangibles – Glazer Safety Slugs — which are safer in urban environments. The rest of the stack would be Remington Golden Sabers – the right stuff according to FBI barrier tests.
Today what I have is not so potent, but it’s much more concealable. The customary phrase, I believe, is “armed and dangerous.”
