Why was I notified about account access attempts?

If someone unsuccessfully tries to access your account or change your security questions, we'll notify you that this attempt was made through the alternate email address and/or mobile number associated with your account.

Here's what you need to know

We send a notification regarding the security of your account when changes are made to your account, when our security system has been alerted that your account may have been compromised or when you or someone is trying to access the account from a different location, computer, mobile device, or ISP which the account is usually accessed from. Our system may detect this as unusual activity.

Once you've received this type of notification:

  • If you are signing in from a new location, your account will be locked until you are able to sign in from a trusted location.
  • When you sign in, you may be asked to enter CAPTCHA word verification.
  • Be sure that you are using a secure password, and strong security questions.
  • Check if there is unusual activity happening on your account on your Recent Login Activity page.

This notification is not necessarily a reason for concern

As long as the person attempting to access your account cannot guess the security questions or password that you have on file, your account remains secure.
